Louisiana Saturday Night- Mel McDaniel To me this is the quintessential song about the kind of life we are all looking for, surrounded by family.
What is something you’re proud of and why?
I am proud of my career path. I have chosen very deliberately to put myself into situations and roles that I believe let me help others and use my skills to build the world that I want to live in.
What is your personal and professional journey that led you to Call to Freedom?
I started my career in large scale political management leading teams and campaigns. I also served for several years with an educational Non-profit focused on educating College students about Civics. I eventually worked for the State of North Carolina House of Representatives including Representatives Yarborough, Adams, Sossamon, and Chesser; where I managed constituent issues and served as a Budget advisor helping to secure Federal/State budget allocations and Grants.
What kinds of projects are you most excited to work on at Call to Freedom?
I am looking forward to maintaining and growing the revenue streams for Call to Freedom. I think the various new projects that are coming will require significant funding, and I look forward to being a small part in making sure that Call to Freedom is able to expand and grow its mission.
Why do you believe in the mission of Call to Freedom?
I live by the maxim, “If not me, who? If not now, when?” Call to Freedom embodies this principle by taking action to support survivors and transform communities rather than merely talking about change. Being a small part of that fits perfectly in my belief that we all need to be working to build the world we want to live in.
How do you think your position at Call to Freedom is important to the mission?
I think my position is very important because it plays a major role in every aspect of the organization. Without funding the rest of the mission couldn’t function. So, I believe that my mission is critical to the success of the whole organization.
