Occupational Therapy Assistant

Throughout my life I’ve viewed challenges through the lens of independence – whether financial, physical health, or mental health.  I believe it’s never too late to rediscover one’s path.  Call to Freedom shares that conviction and works tirelessly to help others rekindle their purpose and passion for life.

What do you like to do outside of work (hobbies, sports, interests)?

I gravitate toward hobbies that suit a rainy day. I love anything involving music or writing, and when I’m not listening to music, playing board games, or writing, I’m usually thinking about the next time I can do those things.

What is a fun fact about you?

In 2017 I had the incredible opportunity to spend a week at a wolf sanctuary in Colorado.  Being face-to-face with wolves taught me just how beautiful – and essential – these animals are to our ecosystem.  A part of my heart will always remain with them, and I hope to visit again someday.

What is your favorite snack/treat?

Jelly beans, without question.

What song inspires or motivates you (who sings it)?

“Fear” by Blue October.  The song’s meaning – and the band’s recovery story – resonates deeply with me.  My favorite line is the closing one in the chorus:  “I used to fall, but now I get back up.”

What is something you’re proud of and why?

I’m proud to have served on multiple boards alongside passionate, mission-driven individuals – first as a Student Delegate in college and later with our state’s occupational therapy organization.  Working with people who strive to advocate for others has been both inspiring and humbling.

What is your personal and professional journey that led you to Call to Freedom?

My personal and professional paths have always run parallel.  I began in banking, helping clients navigate financial hardship because I understood the daily struggle of making ends meet.  When COVID-19 struck, I transitioned to working as a CNA, driven by a desire to be of greater service.  Seeing the challenges my patients faced convinced me to pursue a field that empowers people to live life to the fullest.  That calling led me to become an OTA – and ultimately brought me to Call to Freedom.

What kinds of projects are you most excited to work on at Call to Freedom?

I’m passionate about life-skills training and research.  I look forward to discovering new, evidence-based ways to teach essential skills and to sharing those strategies with the people we serve.

Why do you believe in the mission of Call to Freedom?

Throughout my life I’ve viewed challenges through the lens of independence – whether financial, physical health, or mental health.  I believe it’s never too late to rediscover one’s path.  Call to Freedom shares that conviction and works tirelessly to help others rekindle their purpose and passion for life.

How do you think your position at Call to Freedom is important to the mission?

Occupational therapy opens a door for everyone – not just to independence, but to a life filled with meaning.  By applying that philosophy, I can encourage clients to pursue both.
