Statewide Rural Case Manager

I believe that the continuum of care model is extremely important in the process of helping those effected by human trafficking. No human deserves to have their freedom, rights, safety, and sense of self stripped away from them.

When did you start working at Call of Freedom? And what is your personal and professional journey that led you here?

I started at Call to Freedom as an intern in January 2023, I was officially hired as the Statewide Rural Case Manager and started on April 24th, 2023.

I graduated with my bachelor’s degree in social work on May 6th of 2023. When I decided to obtain my social work degree, I was not sure yet what I would do with the degree. I was assigned a research paper and I chose to research human trafficking. When I was writing the paper I learned a lot about the risk factors of human trafficking, and what these victims go through. It opened my eyes to what is happening right in our own backyards, and I decided this is what I wanted to do with my degree.

There were many reasons that pulled me towards wanting to work within the anti-human trafficking movement. The main reasons were that I related to many of the risk factors that increase the likely hood of someone falling victim to trafficking and the lack of research and resources available for victims was disheartening.

When I was looking to find an agency to complete my internship hours, I found Call to Freedom and was drawn in by their mission and the wrap-around services that they offered.

What is your position at CTF & why is it important to the mission?

I am the Statewide Rural Case Manager; I believe that the continuum of care model is extremely important in the process of helping those effected by human trafficking. No human deserves to have their freedom, rights, safety, and sense of self stripped away from them. Therefore, helping our clients in all aspects of their lives and journey to rebuilding the wholeness is not only important, but also necessary. The healing journey is not a linear path and there needs to be resources for all aspects of the journey.

Why do you believe in the mission of Call to Freedom?

I believe in the mission of CTF not only because the need for services and care for victims and survivors of human trafficking is extremely high. Also, because there is a darkness around human trafficking that is creating a safe place for perpetrators to continue victimizing those that are vulnerable.

Call to Freedom is creating more awareness and educating to our community about what human trafficking is, what it looks like here, and how to help those in need. Awareness and education shine a light into that darkness and creates a community that is no longer a safe place for those perpetrators but a safe place for the survivors.

What is a moment that sticks out to you from your time working here or why do you feel like it’s meaningful?

A moment that sticks out to me from my time with Call to Freedom so far is when I was helping with a group session at Marissa’s House. The group involved learning and talking about what a healthy relationship looks like. All the women in that group were supporting each other as they talked about their boundaries and how they were learning to create and use them. It was such an amazing experience to see a group of women who had been through so much in their lives not only growing as individuals but supporting their peers as they did.

What is a fun fact about yourself?

I am a dog mom of a Great Dane and a Spring Spaniel, as well as a plant mom to about 40 different plants. I enjoy caring for my plants, dogs, and myself with yoga and traveling to different places in the world.
