April Volunteer of the Month – Dawn
The Helpline Center congratulates Dawn Stomberg on being named the April 2020 Volunteer of the Month, an area-wide award program sponsored by the Helpline Center. Call to Freedom nominated Dawn Stomberg for the Volunteer of the Month due to her tireless work helping with a variety of projects at the office and at their housing project, where women reside as they transition out of trafficking into self-sufficiency. Dawn helps keep client donations organized so they know when they are getting low on supplies. She helps maintain organization; despite the chaos it can become around the office at times.
Kelsey Veurink, Case Manager adds, “When a client moves out of Marissa’a Project, Dawn comes in, cleans the apartments, decorates the apartments, and gives them a loving touch. She makes the apartments homey, place to call home, in most have never had a place of their own, a place of safety and a place where they can focus on themselves while they work through the challenges of day-to-day living. Dawn’s always willing to step in and help, even on late notice when a client has moved out and new one is to move in soon after. She donates many hours of her time to help these victims get a place where they can transition into becoming a survivor. Most clients weep when they first walk into the apartments and find out it is theirs. They’ve been controlled, homeless, and in places no person should ever be, then find a place where they can grow as a person, in their faith, and work through their trauma. Dawn helps us give them that initial reaction, that sense of belonging, hope, and a future. She does this all out of the goodness of her heart, her servant heart.”
The Helpline Center is pleased to present Dawn with a framed certificate and a letter of appreciation from Mayor Paul TenHaken
