Meet Julie Klinger
Julie Klinger is the woman behind the woman.
She met CTF’s Executive Director Becky Rasmussen two years ago through a mutual friend who placed them on the same advisory board for a local ministry.
“Call to Freedom grew so quickly that we needed to focus on building a strong foundation,” says Rasmussen. “Hiring a Director of Operations was the next step to meet that need and Julie was the perfect fit.”
Klinger is best known around Sioux Falls as the former event director for Lifelight, the Christian music festival held each Labor Day weekend. From there, she went on to spearhead national events for a Sioux Falls-based speaker and author.
In that role, Klinger started to realize something foundational about herself: she craved causes that uplift the vulnerable.
But even though she missed Lifelight and even farther back — her days as an adoption social worker —she also knew that she was ready for a broader challenge, something that, as a start-up nonprofit, CTF had in spades.
“This job is my trifecta – it uses my social work background, puts me in ministry, and lets me lead administratively, all of which I love,” says Klinger.
Call to Freedom was able to bring Klinger on board as CTF’s first Operations Director just before Thanksgiving 2017. Among her many contributions, it’s Klinger’s grantwriting that shines brightest. She’s submitted — and been rewarded for — several proposals, the largest of which will exponentially expand CTF’s client services.
“It was amazing to receive this grant!” says Klinger. “By no means have we arrived; we most likely never will, but these funds will go a long way toward ensuring that our clients receive the support they need.”
Please join us in welcoming Julie to the team!
